CLEAR (College Library Electronic Access Rights) is a tool that assists college library users in determining what they can and cannot do with electronic resources accessed from the library. Using OCUL's OUR Usage Rights software, CLEAR provides a simple interface for entering and displaying summaries of permitted uses identified in licence agreements.
CLEAR Local provides college libraries with their own branded CLEAR site. CLEAR Local instances are populated with applicable records from CLEAR Central, as well as records created by the library for licence agreements not managed by OCLS.
As part of the service, OCLS is developing a solution that will allow data in a local instance to be integrated with EDS and Summon discovery layers. The anticipated launch for those solutions is Spring 2017.
