Niagara College and Mohawk College Joining Page 1+ Consortium
We are pleased to announce that Niagara College and Mohawk College have joined the eighteen Ontario college libraries participating in the Page 1+ Project (formerly known as the Collaborative Library Services Platform Project).
When implementation is complete, these 20 colleges will have the same “next generation” library services platform, Ex Libris' Alma and Primo, which will strengthen their ability to collaborate and share enhancements. Increasing the size of the Ontario college libraries consortium creates further shared cost savings and creates a familiar experience for students and staff if they change colleges within Ontario. The remaining four Ontario colleges had already implemented this platform, so are not part of this implementation project.
Implementation for the initial 18 colleges is well underway and Page 1+ will launch in July 2022. Niagara College and Mohawk College will have their own implementation schedule with their launch planned for the spring of 2023.
About the Page 1+ Project
Page 1+ Project involves the implementation of a “next generation” library services platform across 20 Ontario college libraries. The project will:
- Increase capacity for quality online learning
- Provide the infrastructure to support equitable access to digital resources and services
- Improve the user experience, facilitate cost savings, and achieve enhanced metrics
- Strengthen the colleges’ collaborative foundation and technical expertise
Project Sponsorship and Grants
The project is sponsored by College Libraries Ontario (CLO), the collaborative body of 24 college libraries that advocates on behalf of students for the best college library services and resources, and is supported by the Ontario Colleges Library Service (OCLS).
The collaborative implementation of the Ex Libris solution is made possible due to a one-time grant from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities and eCampusOntario. It will increase capacity for quality online learning, provide the infrastructure to support equitable access to digital resources and services, improve user experience, facilitate cost savings, and achieve enhanced metrics.
