Canadian Electronic Library (College Subscriptions on desLibris)
This page is for the Canadian Electronic Library subscription collection on desLibris, desLibris Complete.
- The Ontario colleges have perpetual rights to a collection of CEL content. For information on the perpetual CEL collection, see the Canadian Electronic Library (OCLS-purchased content) resource page.
- The Irwin Law content has been withdrawn from CEL. See the 2022 Irwin Law offer page for more information.
- All other CEL content is migrating to a new platform, Canada Commons. For information about the new Canadian Electronic Library on Canada Commons, see the 2022 CEL offer page.
desLibris Complete is a combination of two erstwhile collections: desLibris Books (a.k.a. the Publishers Collection); and desLibris Documents (itself a combination of the former Public Policy/CCPC and Health Research/CHRC collections).
Discovery Layer Indexing
For details, see "Discovery Services" in the desLibris Library Administrators' Guide.
Search Results Configuration
By default, desLibris is configured to include all desLibris content in the search results, regardless of access level. A content preview is provided rather than full text when a user clicks on an item their library does not have access to. Libraries may change this configuration in the desLibris Administration module. For more information, see "Filtering user access and views" in the desLibris Library Administrators' Guide.
Not compatible with the IMS LTI standard.
History on ebrary
CEL was originally accessed through ProQuest's ebrary platform. In July of 2016, CEL launched their own platform, desLibris. CEL was removed from ProQuest's database when ProQuest migrated from ebrary to Ebook Central in 2017.
